Sarah, Plain and Tall

Describe the time and setting (refer to the pages). Why is the father advertising for a wife? How do you feel about that?

  3. Ok....but you can include the time period in the setting. What time period do you think this takes place in? At first I was a bit shocked that people were advertising in the newspaper for a spouse. However, I realize that perhaps it wasn't taking place in modern day. Perhaps the story was taking place a long time ago. What evidence did you find in the book that might have you think the story took place a while ago?
